Callosa de Segura
Guide to Callosa de Segura, a Costa Blanca town.
Callosa de Segura - Costa Blanca - Spain
Callosa de Segura: The Costa Blanca town of Callosa de Segura lies at the foot of the Sierra de Callosa mountains, some 20 minutes drive from the coast.
The town is dominated by the surrounding mountains and by the Hermitage de Sant Roque (the patron saint of Callosa de Segura), which looks down on the town from its position on the mountain. Even higher up is the ruined castle of Callosa, built in a seemingly inaccessible place.
There were settlers in the area of Callosa de Segura in prehistoric times, though documented history goes back to the Arab conquests (8th - 13th Centuries) when it was a stronghold due to its position on the mountainside.
Amongst places to visit whilst in Callosa de Segura are the afore mentioned Hermitage of Saint Roque, the Archaeological Museum and Saint Martin's Church.
Callosa de Segura is located on the CV 900 between Orihuela and Crevillent.
