What to see in Alicante -
Alicante, the second largest city in Valencia, has some fine places to visit, listed here are just 5 of the many tourist attractions.
1. Castillo de Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara Castle) - Originally an Arab fortress in the 9th Century, it was rebuilt during the 16th and 17th Centuries and massively expanded during the 18th Century.
2. La Esplanada - The famous palm-lined boulevard with its fabulous marble mosaic design.
3. The Archaeological Museum (Museo Arqueologico Provincial de Alicante) - Located in the Plaza Dr Gómez Ulla.
4. Cathedral de San Nicolas - Huge 17th Century cathedral located in the cities old quarter in Calle Labradores.
5. Barrio de Santa Cruz - Alicante's most ancient area (old quarter), filled with antiquated white-walled houses and meandering stairways.
